Thanks to video superstar, Josh Richards, here are some helpful tips and best practices to keep in mind as you create your ecclesiastical media masterpiece ;-)
- CONTENT: Take notes for yourself. We’re not asking you to memorize what you’re going to tell the denomination at large, or even to all that polished. Having a good sense of the point you’d like to get across is key. A bullited list to refer to will help keep your talk from straying and make sure that you say what you’d like to say within the eight minutes.
- CAMERA: While it would be great if you could use an HD Camera feel free to use your webcam. Make sure that lighting does create shadows or backlight your face.
- SOUND:Make sure we can hear you! It might be okay to look at your pretty face for eight minutes, but we want to know what you have to SAY to the PCUSA. If you have access to an external microphone, use that. This is particularly important if you are having more than one person as part of your video.
- EDITING: If you’re able, trim any extra time from the beginning and end of your talk – perhaps while you’re turning on and off the camera. If you want to do more editing, feel free. This is YOUR voice to the Presbyterian Church, so feel free to make it all yours.
