I posted an announcement in September about two Palestine delegations I will convene and coordinate1 in the Spring. After multiple conversations with our two main partners, Friends of Sabeel North America and Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Center I am glad to inform folks that the trips are on and the planning has begun!

Hella deets below.

"Grassroots Partners in Justice: A Delegation for Organizational Leaders" — April 1-7, 2025

Meeting with an amazing senior group in Ramallah

This delegation will be made up of leaders from advocacy organizations that focus on issues adjacent to Palestinian liberation: immigration, LGBTQIA+, housing, peacemaking, antiracism, reproductive justice, peacemaking, etc. We will meet with other organizational leaders as we learn from, listen to, and relay the stories of the Palestinian people to our own communities. Participants should be ready and willing to share real-time experiences and continue to share upon their return.

"Walking in Faith: A Palestinian Pilgrimage to the Empty Tomb" — April 12-21, 2025

Met and sang with sisters from a French convent in the Old City

This delegation will focus on the lives of Palestinian Christians, including, but not limited to, meeting with Palestinian interfaith and Christian leaders, participating in the Sabeel Stations of the Cross, accompanying Palestinians, engaging in theological reflection, and worshipping with various communities. It is shaping up to be a multi-generational trip, with people from their early 20s to folks in their 60s and up.

Basic Logistics

Though this delegation will be highly focused on Holy Week (in particular, the Stations of the Cross), all faith traditions are welcome, and there are no assumptions that delegation members have a Christian connection.

General Information for Both Delegations

  • Both delegations are geared toward first-time visitors to Palestine or those who have never experienced Palestine through the lens of the Palestinian people. We may also take returning folks, so if it has been a while, please feel free to submit your interest.
  • We will not be intentionally entering active war zones and trust that leaders will to everything possible to keep the group as safe as possible.
  • We hope to build diverse groups to share what they have learned with various communities upon their return home.
  • Sabeel will handle all travel arrangements, in-country accomodations, organizing, and coordination. To honor their work and the people we will meet with, delegation members must remain with the group for the entire time and commit to following our Palestinian leadership.
  • The Delegation will be based primarily on East Jerusalem, with day trips to other locations. There will be time to explore the Old City and support local shops and craftspeople.
  • We will be exposed to a breadth of experiences: political, personal, and cultural.
  • Delegation fees support local Palestinian businesses: hotels, food, speakers, etc. Personal shopping and other personal expenses are not covered.
  • The cost includes all delicious meals and double occupancy hotel-style accommodations (Singles are available at an extra cost).
  • Applicants will need current passports before their place on the trip can be confirmed.

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me, and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

. . . and please share this post with any and all who may be interested in finding out more.

  1. convene and coordinate means that I will be the primary US contact and organizer. I will help answer questions, ease anxiety, and be the main herder of cats before, during, and after the delegation experience. Delegation costs and Sabeel help to cover my expenses. I am an advocate and not an expert, but I feel called to help bring this experience to as many people as possible.
